Reach Out by Switching On!

This coming winter, the Great Get Together is launching its most ambitious campaign to date. From December 14th to January 18th, participants across the UK will be facing loneliness together and asking their communities to connect in five different ways.
Week two of the campaign is focused on ‘Reaching Out,’ and we’re kickstarting the week by encouraging our towns, cities and neighbourhoods to connect through the power of light. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, through decorating your windows, shop fronts or public spaces, and lighting up your local monuments, we can send a collective message across the UK about the importance of connection this festive season.
You might want to connect with local friends and neighbours to organise a neighbourhood switch on, lantern display, or light trail, or to meet online in the run-up for a crafting session- the choice is yours! The aim is to create a beacon of hope that reaches out across the UK.
Keep it simple: We recommend using any decorations you already have, or making some simple homemade creations! Considering the financial pressures that many people are under, and the environmental cost of a crowd of Singing Santas, we encourage a simple, creative and environmentally friendly approach.
Share: Please share what your decorations, creations, and lights with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram or by using the hashtag #moreincommon.
