The Great Get Together celebrates what unites us and rejects division, inspired by Jo Cox’s message that we have more in common than that which divides us.
Many schools find this message one that chimes with them and, in particular, with their PSHE/British values curriculum. They use the Great Get Together as a opportunity to celebrate what their pupils diversity and what they have in common, to bridge divides and to reach out to local communities.
Over the years schools have arranged a wide range of Great Get Togethers; from assemblies and lessons about Jo Cox and her story, to football tournaments and school fetes.
Our schools pack aims to provide everything you need to run a Great Get Together which works for your school; this includes lesson and assembly plans for all key stages, ideas on other Great Get Together activities you could do and case studies about Great Get Togethers held by other schools.
